Program Overview

This qualification provides an outcome for:

  • experienced plumbing service operators with responsibility for project design and supervision (Air conditioning and mechanical services stream)
  • specialist plumbing services tradespersons and operators seeking to deepen their technical skills (Plumbing and services – Operations stream)


Occupational titles may include:

  • Plumbing contractor
  • Air conditioning technician


Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Students must be currently enrolled in or have completed their Certificate III in Plumbing Services.

          This course is delivered flexibly.  The majority of the theory for each unit is delivered via a range on on-line learning activities that must be completed prior to attending course workshops in which you will apply the theory learnt and practice your skills and technique.

            Program Structure

            Air conditioning and mechanical services stream
            To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in fifteen (15) units of study:

            • eight (8) Core units;
            • seven (7) Elective units.

            The units must be completed as follows:

            • all four (4) Common Core units;
            • all four (4) Core units shared between air conditioning and mechanical services stream;
            • seven (7) Elective units, ensuring that any licensing requirements are addressed.

            Plumbing and services - Operations stream
            To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in fifteen (15) units of units:

            • twelve (12) Core units;
            • three (3) Elective units.


            The units must be completed as follows:

            • all four (4) Common Core units;
            • all eight (8) Core units (Plumbing and services – Operations stream);
            • three (3) Elective units, ensuring that any licensing requirements are addressed.

              Workplace Health & Safety
