This qualification covers workers in a range of work roles who provide assistance to health professional staff with the care of clients.
Health Services Assistance involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision.
This qualification has been structured with elective groups for specific work functions in operating theatre support and assisting in nursing work in acute care.
In addition the qualification supports multi-skilling requirements of smaller and rural/remote work settings.
After completing this course you could work in hospitals, clinics, private medical practices and home and community care services.

Workplace Health & Safety (including practical lab classes)
It is important that you are aware of health and safety in the workplace at all times. You need to keep a tidy and safe workplace.
DRESS CODE - practical lab class:
- White T shirt or Polo shirt --singlet or long sleeves may be worn underneath "T"
- Black or Navy Trousers
- Closed toe shoe/boots- low heel, non-slip soles (WHS requirement)
- Minimal jewellery
- Hair clean and tied up if below the shoulders
- Finger nails short and no nail polish
- Minimal makeup/perfume
Good Personal Hygiene (because you are in close proximity to clients)
- Clean clothes
- Clean shoes
- Shower/Oral Hygiene
- Wash hands regularly
Unacceptable Dress Code
- Untidy clothing
- Ugg boots or similar
- Mini skirt
- Tummy/underarms or cleavage exposed

HLT32512 - The Certificate III in Health Service Assistance
The course is a total of 473 hours = 6 months
120 hrs are allocated to Learning in the Workplace (work placement) and simulated practical lab sessions to support your career in health.
